Q1 2024 Snapshot: Top Film & TV Apps on iOS in Latin America

Latin America's iOS users have shown their preferences for Film & Television apps in the first quarter of 2024. Here's a brief on the performance of the top five apps in this category, based on data from Sensor Tower.

Disney+ kicked off the quarter with a revenue of $762K in the first week, experiencing fluctuations but closing the quarter with a solid $724K. Downloads started at 140K and saw a slight downtrend, rounding off at 119K. Weekly active users (WAU) began at 2.07M, dipped to 1.61M, but rebounded to 1.88M by the end of March.

HBO Max: Stream TV & Movies saw its revenue start at a robust $1.03M, dropping to $682K by late February. Downloads followed a similar decline from 149K to 27K. The WAU began strong at 1.83M; however, it sharply decreased to 587K.

Star+ generated $398K in revenue in the first week of January, peaked at $471K in late February, and ended March on a high note with $473K. The app's downloads and WAU showed more stability with downloads hovering around 115K to 139K and WAU staying within the 1.47M to 1.56M range.

Max: Stream HBO, TV, & Movies, despite being a new release in late February, quickly gained traction with an impressive $962K in revenue in its first week. Downloads soared to 811K and ended March at 686K, while WAU skyrocketed from 535K to 1.63M, showing a strong uptake among users.

Lastly, Globoplay: Novelas, séries e +, a local favorite, started the quarter with revenue of $326K and closed at $337K. Downloads saw a significant spike in the second week of January at 246K but normalized to around 71K by the end of March. WAU saw a peak at 942K and ended the quarter with a solid 873K.
